What is Aging in Place?
Aging in place means remaining in one’s home safely, independently and comfortably, regardless of age or ability level. It means the pleasure of living in a familiar environment throughout one’s maturing years and the ability to enjoy the familiar daily rituals and the special events that enrich all our lives.
It means the reassurance of being able to call a house a “home” for a lifetime.
The concept of aging in place encompasses various elements such as home modifications (e.g., installing grab bars, ramps, and handrails), adaptive technologies (e.g., smart home devices, medical alert systems), and support services (e.g., home healthcare, transportation assistance) that enable seniors to maintain their autonomy and quality of life while remaining in familiar surroundings.
Aging in place emphasizes proactive planning and design strategies to ensure that individuals can continue to live safely and comfortably in their homes for as long as possible.

What is CAPS?
The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), in collaboration with AARP and other experts, developed the Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) designation, which is achieved through training and testing during a multicourse educational program.
A Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist understands the unique needs of the older adult population and is knowledgeable about aging-in-place home modifications, common remodeling projects and solutions to common barriers. CAPS designers are often remodelers, but designers, OTs, architects and others frequently achieve this designation as well.
As a CAPS designer, it is our objective to make a home as safe and comfortable as possible so that you can live independently as long as you can in your own home.
It is much more than grab bars in the shower or a ramp at the front door. There are so many things that can be done to make everyone’s life better. Please give us a call so that we can make your life at home as fulfilling as possible
