This week our own Nate Schuck was invited to give a presentation to the Orange Appeal Magazine’s monthly lunch group. Above is Nate with Wendy Tramell, Marketing Associate (on the left) and editor and publisher Christi Ashby (on the right).
Nate talked to the group about S&W Kitchens’ most recent award-winning kitchens – and also about his love of family and entertaining. Using kitchens from S&W’s portfolio, Nate talked about the latest trends in home remodeling – such as open concepts, drawing friends and family into the kitchen and making the kitchen the heart of the home.
Newer features can be added to make the kitchen more functional for busy families, like steam ovens, warming drawers and beverage centers. Built in tables, like booths and bar seating at islands, are also popular. Many cabinet lines also offer special cabinetry that allows for much easier access to hard to reach storage areas and better organization.
Mixing styles has also become very popular – for example, using an heirloom range in a very modern space.
With three beautiful children and lots of family nearby, Nate loves to entertain family-style with lots of good food and cute decorations. Going the extra mile with the decorations always makes it easy for guests to relax and really enjoy themselves. He likes to preplan a lot of the food so he and his wife can really relax and participate with guests. They always add music – and often the entertainment is ‘crazy dancing’! The kids really get into that!
Nate made his favorite easy summertime cocktail for the group to taste. Here’s the recipe – it doesn’t look like the heat will let up anytime soon!
Root Booze Float
Ingredients
- Bottled root beer (IBC is my favorite)
- 2 ounces coffee liqueur (Kahlua preferred)
- 2 ounces milk or heavy cream
- ice cubes
Instructions
- Fill a tall cocktail glass with ice cubes
- Pour root beer, coffee liqueur and milk into a cocktail shaker
- Shake until combined and frothy
- Pour mixture over ice and enjoy
