Artists have been selected for judging for the inaugural show “There’s No Place Like Home – Art Inspired by Winter Park’s Historic Architecture” to be held at Casa Feliz, 656 N. Park Avenue in Winter Park. The show runs from January 8 – 18, when Casa Feliz will be open daily from 10 – 3.
“Winter Park’s historic architecture is beloved by our community,” stated Executive Director of the Friends of Casa Feliz Betsy Owens. “We were astonished when over eighty entries were received! It is clear that historic preservation is inspiring and important to many in our community. Some of Central Florida’s best talent will be in this show.”
Dr. Ena Heller, the Bruce A. Beal Director of the Cornell Museum of Fine Art at Rollins College, will judge the art and award first, second and third prizes. The public will vote for a “People’s Choice” award while the show is open for viewing.
“Art, like storytelling, gives a human dimension to our history,” said Casa Feliz board member Richard Reep, who is chairing the event. “We are building a collection of images of Winter Park’s best architecture, and it is delightful to see so much of Winter Park’s rich heritage inspiring to artists.”
On Saturday, January 10, the public is invited to a special community celebration at Casa Feliz. This event, held from 1- 3pm, will include refreshments, storytelling, music by Shawn Garvey, and children’s art activities by Crealde Museum of Art. Artists will be present to talk about their work.
S&W Kitchens, Presenting Sponsor, will provide refreshments for the January 10 event.
