9 Ways to Elevate Your Bathroom Design

Bathrooms provide a great opportunity to introduce new patterns, materials, and design styles. Similar to kitchens, bathrooms are designed with “fixed” materials such as tile, plumbing fixtures, etc. that aren’t easily changed out.  Most of our customers keep their bathroom designs for 10+ years.

These 9 design elements will elevate your bathroom remodel, transcend trends and beat out builder-grade finishes.

1. Custom Bathroom Cabinets

A custom vanity can be a beautiful design statement, and a lovely piece of furniture within your bathroom. Whether painted or wood stained vanities are an opportunity to incorporate personality and maximize storage to your specific needs.

2. Natural Materials

Natural materials, such as marble, travertine, basalt, limestone and many types of wood such as teak are great durable materials to use in a bathroom. The use of natural materials highly elevates bathroom design  and increases the longevity of the design.

3. Glass Shower vs. Shower Curtain

Glass shower walls and doors will highly elevate your bathroom design compared to a shower curtain. In addition to making small areas appear much more spacious, like in the example above, glass also allows the details inside the shower to shine.

Tile is one the most beautiful details in your new space, you need to show it off.  Can you imagine this beautiful ocean inspired slab covered by a shower curtain?

4. Patterned Tile

Our designers love when clients are interested in incorporating playful patterns and statement tile to elevate their design.  As you can see in the examples above, you can be bold or more understated depending on your preferences.

5. Sconce Lighting

Consider an alternative style than the traditional overhead vanity light by adding a sconce on each side of the mirror.  This adds an elevated look with both function and aesthetics and the  lighting selections available endless.

6. Unique Tile Installation

7. Wallpaper in Your Bathroom

This is one trend we are thrilled to see back.  Wallpaper is a perfect way to add personality, and – the bathroom is a small enough space you can remove it easily if you want to change it out down the road.

8. Built In Details & Open Shelving

9. Mixed Metals

We love the use of two metals in a design.   In this project we paired gold and bronze hardware and fixtures throughout.
